Your Competitors Can Take a Seniors Course Too.
Specialized seniors education matters. It gives professionals a better understanding of older adults, families and the realities that can surround later-life housing decisions.
But education is becoming more available. More professionals can take a seniors course, earn a credential and say they work with the 55+ market.
So what will make your practice different?
Lifestyle55+ Affiliate gives you the foundation.
MASTERS is about what you build from it.

The ONE question that changed everything
I Thought I Was Becoming an exceptional Seniors Real Estate Professional. Then She Opened the Drawer.
Early in my real estate career, I was trying to learn everything I could about working with older adults.
I took training, met people throughout the seniors sector and spent time introducing myself to retirement communities. I was becoming more knowledgeable, making connections and, if I am being fair to my younger self,
probably feeling pretty confident about what I was building.
Then I met with the director of a retirement residence.
While we were talking, she reached over and opened the top drawer of her desk. It was packed with REALTOR® business cards.
There was nothing complicated about the question.
I had taken the training. I cared about older adults. I believed I understood this market. But when I looked at that drawer, I realized she was not asking what courses I had taken.
She was asking why she should remember me.
And I did not yet have a good answer.

That conversation changed what specialization meant to me.
The other professionals represented in that drawer were not necessarily bad REALTORS®. Many probably cared deeply about their clients, and some had specialized education of their own.
The problem was that, from the director’s side of the desk, many of us were saying essentially the same thing and coming with the same hidden agenda – easy commission!
If I wanted to build a real seniors practice, I needed to go beyond saying that I worked with seniors.
I needed to define how I served, what my clients should experience, how I would work with families and other professionals, what I stood for and why someone could confidently refer a client to me.
That search for something more simply became the drive behind developing Lifestyle55+ MASTERS.
A COURSE MAY GET YOUR CARD INTO THE DRAWER. BUT WHAT MAKES SOMEONE PULL YOURS OUT?
TODAY – The Drawer Is Even More Full
Professionals can now pursue seniors-specific education through programs such as SRES®, CREA’s Canadian Certified Seniors Representative, SREA, Lifestyle55+ Affiliate and other training.
That increased attention to older adults is positive for the profession and should I say a detriment as well.
But when several capable professionals in the same market can legitimately say they have received seniors-specific education, the credential alone cannot carry the entire differentiation story. In fact it may dilute it!
That is where Lifestyle55+ MASTERS begins.
Understand why older adults, families and later-life transitions can require advanced knowledge,
conversations and professional awareness.
Turn that understanding into clearer positioning, stronger client experience, professional referral credibility and deliberate implementation.
Lifestyle55+ Affiliate is the required foundation for MASTERS.
Holding SRES®, CCSR, SREA or another third-party credential does not replace that prerequisite. We have many of the Masters holding several of these designations, but MASTERS is only attainable through the Lifestyle55+ Affiliate program.
Not More Important. More Intentional.
MASTERS is not about declaring yourself better than another professional. It is about expecting more from your own practice and being able to demonstrate the difference.
The Difference Should Show Up in the Practice
Becoming a MASTER is not about returning to the marketplace with one more certificate or another line of letters after your name. The achievement matters, but the value should become visible in how you work.

The designation identifies the achievement. Your professional practice should demonstrate the difference.
A MASTER should be able to explain more clearly who they serve, what their professional approach represents, how clients and families experience their service and why a referral partner can have confidence in the introduction.
- Turn knowledge into a defined professional approach.
- Create a client experience that reflects what you have learned.
- Develop positioning that goes beyond generic claims of specialization.
- Understand how to work alongside other professionals serving older adults.
- Build credibility with clients, families and referral partners.
- Implement what you learn rather than simply adding another credential.
There Is No Cookie-Cutter Version of a MASTER
The objective is not to create professionals who all look and sound the same.
MASTERS members apply the principles around their own strengths, markets and clients.

What they share is a decision to take specialized knowledge and build something tangible from it.
Would Another Professional Put Their Reputation Behind Referring You?
A lawyer, accountant, financial professional, retirement-community professional, downsizing specialist, care professional or another REALTOR® is not simply handing you a lead.
Their reputation is attached to the introduction.
They need to believe: I can trust this person with my client. That confidence comes from capability, clarity, professional boundaries, consistency and the experience you create.
What MASTERS Helps You Develop
and understanding the person before assuming the transaction.
help make your professional value more deliberate and visible.
Your Professional Network: Develop credible working relationships with professionals who also serve older adults, families, estates and later-life transitions.

MASTERS Isn’t for Every Affiliate
That is intentional. Before deciding whether this is your next step,
answer two questions for yourself.
If your primary goal is simply to collect another designation, MASTERS may not be what you are looking for.
If you are thinking about the professional you want to become, how you serve, what clients experience, how referral partners see you and what you want your practice to become, then we should probably talk.
What Will Make Someone Pull Your Card Out of the Drawer?
I never forgot the question that retirement residence director asked me.
Education gave me a better understanding of the people I wanted to serve. But I still had to decide what kind of professional I wanted to become because of what I had learned.
That is the opportunity MASTERS gives every Affiliate who wants to take the next step.
What happens next is what separates you.
BE MORE.
